I see where you are coming from. Keep in mind, while Betty was showing “a lot of leg and breast” for the time, she was no dumb gal! She was running the show with the blink of the eye & a show of the thigh. She played dumb to get what she wanted, and let the guys think they were running the show. She got what she wanted by letting the guys who went “stupid ga-ga” over her, do all the work.
While I think you are making a great point, I think you might want to re-watch those cartoons with different glasses. She played dumb, and let men “think” they were taking advantage of her, to get what she wanted. She was not the most independent woman, but she got what she wanted, and did the same. However, if you expose that, you are going to ruin her image, and a lot of men’s wet dreams.
If you are looking for a cartoon character to be taken advantage of by women, I would go with Donald Duck. I am not saying this as a joke, REALLY. Donald always gets taken advantage of by Daisy and the nephews.
I have not done social studies of males and females on an educational level in many years, but I still study it on a daily basis.. Men tend to blush more when you make an “off” joke.
I’d love to talk to you more in depth on this topic. I am intrested in anyone who is willing to put it all out there. I think we may be on a similar line.
